MCSA Courses In The UK In Detail

By Jason Kendall

If you’re looking for a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) training course, you should know that there are many different types of training; some are much better than others. You’ll come across a range of courses, whether you’re new to the industry, or an experienced technician ready to formalise your skills with certification.

To achieve certification at the level of MCSA there are four MCP’s (Microsoft Certified Professional exams) needed to be passed. If you’re joining the industry for the first time, you’ll probably be required to learn a few things before doing the first of the four MCP’s. Search for a training organisation with people who can guide you towards the best way forward for you and will take care to start you at the right entry level.

Many training companies are still using one of the most out-dated training concepts - classroom attendance. Often sold as a benefit, after discussion with someone who has first-hand experience, you’ll find them listing some or most of these:

* Recurrent travelling - very long trips in more cases than not.

* Workshop availability; frequently Monday to Friday and sometimes two to three days together. This can be difficult to get the time off work.

* I think you’d agree that we usually discover 4 weeks holiday each year is not really enough. Knock off a big chunk of this for educational classes and you’ll experience even more problems.

* In a situation where running costs are very high, a lot of training providers have to put on larger classes - not really ideal (increasing the ratio of students to teachers).

* Many students want to study at a slower or quicker pace than the rest of the class. This creates tension in the class.

* And let’s not disregard the extra financial outlay of travelling or bed and breakfast for the night either. Don’t be surprised to find this become many hundreds of pounds more - sometimes thousands. Sit down and add it up - it’ll shock and surprise you.

* Privacy is important to us all. We should never risk giving up any lift up the ladder that could awarded to us while we retrain.

* Raising questions in a class full of students sometimes makes us a little self-conscious. Surely, at some point, you’ve avoided asking a question just because you didn’t want to look foolish?

* If your work takes you away from home, you now have to deal with the fact that workshops sometimes become difficult to get to - unfortunately however, the money has already been paid.

It really does make a lot more sense to take classes when it suits you — not the training company - and exploit virtual lab environments with videos of your instructors.

You could study at home on your desktop computer or why not in the garden on a laptop. Any questions that pop up, just utilise the 24×7 Support (that should’ve been packaged with any technical type of training.)

Simply repeat the modules whenever you want or need. And of course, you don’t have to make notes as you have the lesson indefinitely.

The final upshot: Reduced hassle and stress, more money in the bank, and no travelling or long journeys.

Potential trainees hoping to kick off an IT career normally aren’t sure what path to follow, let alone which area to build their qualifications around.

Flicking through a list of odd-sounding and meaningless job titles is no use whatsoever. Most of us have no concept what our good friends do at work - so we have no hope of understanding the intricacies of a specific IT job.

Deliberation over several areas is most definitely required if you need to reveal the right solution that will work for you:

* Your personality can play a major role - what gives you a ‘kick’, and what are the activities that get you down.

* What is the time-frame for retraining?

* How important is salary to you - is it the most important thing, or is day-to-day enjoyment further up on your priority-list?

* Because there are so many areas to train for in Information Technology - it’s wise to achieve a basic understanding of what sets them apart.

* It makes sense to understand the differences across the myriad of training options.

For the majority of us, sifting through all these ideas tends to require the help of an experienced pro who has direct industry experience. Not only the qualifications - you also need to understand the commercial requirements of industry too.

Programming Study Across The UK - Options

By Jason Kendall

Should you be looking for training tracks certified by Microsoft, then you’ll naturally expect training organisations to provide a wide selection of some of the top training courses on the market today.

Maybe you’d choose to find advisors with experience of the IT industry, who could help you sort out which job role would suit you, and what sort of duties are correct for an individual with your character and ability.

Training courses must be tailored to match your current skills and aptitude. So, after working out the best kind of work for you, your next focus is the relevant route to get you there.

The sometimes daunting task of landing your first role in IT can be relieved by some training providers because they offer a Job Placement Assistance programme. It can happen though that there is more emphasis than is necessary on this service, for it is actually not that hard for well qualified and focused men and women to get a job in the IT environment - because companies everywhere are seeking well trained people.

Work on polishing up your CV right away however - you should get plenty of help from your training provider on this. Don’t put it off until you’ve graduated or passed any exams.

Having the possibility of an interview is more than not being known. A decent number of junior support jobs are bagged by trainees (who’ve only just left first base.)

Normally you’ll get quicker results from a specialised and independent local recruitment service than you will through a training company’s national service, as they will be more familiar with the area and local employers.

A good number of men and women, so it seems, spend evenings and weekends on their training and studies (for years sometimes), only to give up at the first hurdle when finding a job. Sell yourself… Work hard to put yourself out there. Don’t think a job’s just going to jump out in front of you.

Beware of putting too much emphasis, like so many people do, on the certification itself. You’re not training for the sake of training; you’re training to become commercially employable. Stay focused on what it is you want to achieve.

It’s unfortunate, but the majority of trainees commence training that sounds magnificent from the sales literature, but which delivers a career that is of no interest at all. Try talking to typical university leavers and you’ll see where we’re coming from.

You need to keep your eye on where you want to go, and create a learning-plan from that - don’t do it the other way round. Stay on target - making sure you’re training for an end-result you’ll still be enjoying many years from now.

Always seek guidance and advice from an experienced professional, even if there’s a fee involved - it’s considerably cheaper and safer to discover early on whether you’ve chosen correctly, rather than realise after two full years that you’ve picked the wrong track and have to start from the beginning again.

Traditional teaching in classrooms, using textbooks and whiteboards, is usually pretty hard going. If all this is ringing some familiar bells, check out study materials that are multimedia based.

We see a huge improvement in memory retention with an involvement of all our senses - educational experts have expounded on this for years now.

Find a course where you’re provided with an array of CD and DVD based materials - you’ll be learning from instructor videos and demo’s, with the facility to fine-tune your skills in fully interactive practice sessions.

It’s imperative to see some example materials from the company you’re considering. Be sure that they contain instructor-led video demonstrations with virtual practice-lab’s.

Often, companies will only use training that is purely available online; and while this is acceptable much of the time, consider what happens when you don’t have access to the internet or you get a slow connection speed. It is usually safer to have DVD or CD discs that don’t suffer from these broadband issues.

Considering how a program is ‘delivered’ to you isn’t always given the appropriate level of importance. In what way are your training elements sectioned? And in what sequence and do you have a say in when you’ll get each part?

Many think it logical (with a typical time scale of 1-3 years to pass all the required exams,) that a training provider will issue one module at a time, as you complete each part. But:

Maybe the order of study pushed by the company’s salespeople doesn’t suit all of us. It may be difficult to get through each and every section at the speed required?

To be honest, the perfect answer is to have their ideal ‘order’ of training laid out, but get everything up-front. You then have everything should you not complete it inside of their required time-scales.

Computer Training For Cisco CCNA - News

By Jason Kendall

Should you be interested in training in Cisco, a CCNA is in all probability what you’ll need. The Cisco training is intended for individuals who wish to understand and work with routers. Routers are what connect networks of computers to other computer networks via dedicated lines or the internet.

As routers are connected to networks, find a course that features the basics on networks - perhaps Network+ and A+, and then do a CCNA course. It’s vital that you’ve got a basic grasp of networks prior to starting your Cisco training or the chances are you’ll fall behind. In the commercial environment, employers will be looking for networking skills in addition to the CCNA.

Qualifying up to the CCNA level is where you should be aiming; don’t let some salesperson talk you into starting with the CCNP. With experience, you will have a feel for if it’s relevant for you to have this next level up. Should that be the case, your experience will serve as the background you need for the CCNP - because it’s far from a walk in the park - and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

One thing you must always insist on is proper direct-access 24×7 support via trained professional instructors and mentors. It’s an all too common story to find providers that will only offer a basic 9am till 6pm support period (maybe later on certain days) with very little availability over the weekend.

Don’t buy training courses that only support trainees through a message system after 6-9pm in the evening and during weekends. Colleges will give you every excuse in the book why you don’t need this. The bottom line is - you need support when you need support - not when it’s convenient for them.

The best training colleges tend to use an online round-the-clock system involving many support centres across the globe. You will be provided with an interface which accesses the most appropriate office any time of the day or night: Support when it’s needed.

If you opt for less than support round-the-clock, you’ll quickly find yourself regretting it. It may be that you don’t use it during the night, but you’re bound to use weekends, late evenings or early mornings.

An all too common mistake that we encounter all too often is to choose a career based on a course, rather than starting with the desired end-result. Colleges are brimming over with direction-less students who chose a course based on what sounded good - in place of something that could gain them an enjoyable career or job.

It’s a sad fact, but a large percentage of students begin programs that seem amazing in the sales literature, but which gets us a career that doesn’t satisfy. Just ask several college graduates for a real eye-opener.

Take time to understand how you feel about career development, earning potential, and how ambitious you are. You should understand what the role will demand of you, which certifications are needed and how you’ll gain real-world experience.

Sense dictates that you seek advice from an industry professional before you begin some particular learning path, so you can be sure that the chosen route will give you the skills for the job being sought.

Students who consider this area of study often have a very practical outlook on work, and won’t enjoy sitting at a desk in class, and endless reading of dry academic textbooks. If this is putting you off studying, try the newer style of interactive study, where learning is video-based.

Where possible, if we can study while utilising as many senses as possible, then the results are usually dramatically better.

Study programs now come in disc format, where everything is taught on your PC. Using video-streaming, you can watch instructors demonstrating how to perform the required skill, and then practice yourself - via the interactive virtual lab’s.

You must ensure that you see courseware examples from the company you’re considering. Be sure that they contain full motion videos of instructors demonstrating the topic with lab’s to practice the skills in.

Some companies only have access to training that is purely available online; sometimes you can get away with this - but, imagine the problems if you lose your internet access or you get intermittent problems and speed issues. A safer solution is the provision of physical CD or DVD discs that removes the issue entirely.

Finding job security in the current climate is incredibly rare. Companies can remove us from the workplace at the drop of a hat - as long as it fits their needs.

We can however reveal security at the market sector level, by searching for high demand areas, tied with work-skill shortages.

The Information Technology (IT) skills shortfall in the country falls in at over 26 percent, as shown by the latest e-Skills investigation. Meaning that for each four job positions in existence throughout the computer industry, there are barely three qualified workers to do them.

Well trained and commercially accredited new workers are consequently at a resounding premium, and it’s estimated to remain so for many years to come.

In actuality, acquiring professional IT skills during the next few years is likely the best career move you’ll ever make.

Hosted Exchange And Sharepoint Hosting Services

By George Young

An online space is very essential for businesses who want to make their workforce much efficient than before. This is the place or space where they can save their files for their teams to access. At the same time, they would also be able to check on their team members for updates on the jobs that they are doing.

Hosted exchange has the Sharepoint Hosting option that has a number of benefits for businesses. These are the reasons why people in businesses would get a hosted exchange service for them. These features are helping businesses climb the ladder of success.

Email notifications or alerts. This is the feature where an email is to be sent out to the team members when a new file has been uploaded.?The good thing about this feature is if people need the file they will know immediately when it’s been uploaded, which is especially helpful if they need it for an important task.

Calendar synchronization. This is another great feature that would help every team member of the team or business synchronize their calendars or tasks for completion. Because of this, people will help meet their personal deadlines or if their bosses have set up an additional deadline for them they can easily monitor it.

Progress report and monitoring. The good thing about hosted exchange and its Sharepoint Hosting option is that it will be possible for the members to see and check on the members for their progress on a task. This will also let the managers check their team and ask them if they are having some issues that may be slowing down their tasks to help them out.

Daily file back up. With this feature, team members will be able to save the files daily in order to serve as their back up. Now, they will be able to get the files for the coming days and can take comfort that they would still have the essential files needed for the business.

WAP compatible. Since being mobile is the most important thing for people now, Sharepoint hosting has now been developed in order to be accessed through mobile phones. This feature is very much functional for people as they can now view these files through their mobile phones.

Since this offers a number of benefits, more and more companies are providing hosted exchange for businesses. They can just check online and find these providers to help their workforce to be more efficient and lead them to success.

3 Reasons for Using Adsense

By Owen Jones

In order to appreciate why Adsense is essential for your content sites, you must first understand how it works.

The theory is really straightforward, if you ruminate about it. The publisher or the webmaster places a java script into a website. Each time the page is visited, the java script will pull adverts from the Adsense scheme. The adverts that are displayed should therefore be closely related to the subject matter on the web page serving the ad. If a visitor clicks on an advert, the webmaster serving the ad earns a portion of the money that the advertiser is paying Google for the click.

The search engine is the one handling all the tracking and payments, providing an easy way for webmasters to display content-sensitive and targeted ads without having the bother of finding advertisers, collecting money, and monitoring the clicks and statistics, which would be a time-consuming task in itself. It appears that there is never a dearth of advertisers in the scheme, from which the search engine draws the Adsense adverts. Furthermore, webmasters don’t have to be so concerned about the information the search engines are providing and can be more focused on making money from those search engines.

The first explanation why Adsense is indispensable for content sites is because it already has learned a lot about the requirements of publishers and webmasters. Its continuous advancement means the appearance of a more advanced system that allows full ad customization. Webmasters are given the opportunity to select from several different types of text advert formats to better complement their website and fit their webpage layout.

The diverse types of formatting permit the site owner the prospect of more clicks-through from visitors who may or may not be conscious of what they are clicking on. This way the people behind Adsense, Google, will get their ads read and make sales in the process.

The second explanation is the ability of the Adsense publishers to follow not only how their sites are doing, but also the earnings based on the webmaster-defined channels. Recent improvements in search engine technology gives webmasters the means to monitor how their ads are doing using customizable reports that have the capacity to count page impressions, clicks and click-through rates. In this way, webmasters and publishers can track specific ad formats, colors and pages within a website. Trends are also easily noticed.

You can assess the efficiency of the alterations you have made quickly by use of these reports. That means you can sort out the contents that visitors are making the most clicks on. Ever-changing needs can be met while generating cash for the webmasters and publishers. The more flexible tools are also allowing webmasters to group web pages by URL, domain, advert type or category, which will offer them an accurate insight on which pages, adverts and domains are performing the best.

The last and final reason is that advertisers have realized the benefits connected with having Google adverts served on targeted websites. This increases the possibility that a web surfer will have an interest in their products or services. All because of the content and its constant upkeep

Adsense is all about related content, the more targeted your subject matter is, the more related the search engines adverts will be. There are some web masters and publishers who are focused more on their site contents and how best to maintain them than the cash that the ads will generate for them.

There was a time when people were not yet aware of the money to be achieved from adverts. The cash generated only came into existence when the webmasters and publishers realized how they could make Adsense be the generator of ads and sales. In those days, subject matter was the most important factor. It still is. With the attraction of capital, of course.

Web Hosting and Affordable Web Hosting Service

By George Young

These days, people already have two options when it comes to online services. They can either have a service free or paid. Many would think that it would be better to get the free service. However, there are several things that people have to consider prior to choosing the kind of services that they choose especially when it comes to web hosting services.

Web hosting service is the space given to you by your provider in order to save the files that you will need in starting up a website. The user may take advantage of a free web hosting service if they are only going to use the website as their personal space. In business however, it would be better if you will get a paid web hosting service.

With the Internet offering a wide variety of option about almost anything, you are sure to find lots of affordable web hosting services online to be able to start reaping its advantages.

If you will be getting a paid web host, one of the advantages that you will be getting is that the site is free from all that clutter of free advertisements. One of the main reasons why clients would leave a webpage is because they are annoyed of the advertisements that will pop up once in a wile. With a paid web host, your clients will have uninterrupted navigation on your website.

The next major advantage is the bigger amount of space it provides for you to store up your files. From text files, images to as big as videos, you can definitely save everything up in your allotted space with the paid service.

Since you are going to get a paid web hosting service, you can be assured that your website is highly secured from possible virus and other malware infection. In this way, you will prevent your files from being deleted because of server crash. As you can see, part of your payment will go to security enhancement in your website.

Finally, a paid web hosting service will allow you to use your business name as your website name. This will give an impression that your business is a reliable one as you can afford to have a paid web hosting service. This will stop their hesitation from doing business with you.

In searching for the most appropriate and yet affordable web hosting service, you must take the time and effort to search online for the best kind. If you are to use the hosting service for your own business, then do not hesitate to go for the paid service. It is much more secured and worth the investment in the long run.

Advanced IT Training Ideas

By Jason Kendall

Across the globe we’re witnessing an ever increasing dependency on IT systems and the services we expect from them. Society is becoming more and more familiar with IT functions and terminology, but are we really becoming more proficient with the systems? We need to ask the question “Is my knowledge increasing at the same rate as the developments within the industry?” for if not, then surely I’m falling behind.

I understand the fact that no-one can know all there is to know about everything. The critical factors surely must be not necessarily the breadth of knowledge but the pertinence of the knowledge as the driving force. Therefore the above question should be placed into context, for example Dreamweaver or Networking if that’s my specialist subject or chosen industry.

I’m reminded of the story where the owner of a large tanker had consistent issues with the engines of his ship, and often had to bring in ’specialist’ engineers to fix the problems every time they berthed at ports around the world. Whilst trying different methods to resolve the challenge, the owner of the tanker was becoming more and more frustrated.

Finally he remembered an old friend of his when they berthed at a port in South America. The friend was a fully qualified engineer, and had an exceptional talent for fixing and maintaining marine engines, so he asked if he could help. His friend agreed, and proceeded straight to the engine bays. First he listened to the engines, then he walked around and tapped a few pipes with his spanner. Finally he moved to a valve and adjusted it 25 degrees clockwise. Immediately the problem was resolved and the engines settled down.

The following day the owner’s pal returned with an invoice for $10,000. The owner was horrified by the size of the invoice, particularly as all he had to do was to turn a valve. So he asked his old friend for a breakdown, hoping for a reduction. The next day the engineer returned with the breakdown as follows - For time spent onboard to solve the problem - a special rate to a friend, $1. For knowing where to tap and which valve to turn, $9,999.

Surely this reminds us that all knowledge must be fit for purpose, and therefore equally the techniques and methodology of training must fit the same criteria. Within a fast-paced industry such as IT, the reliance upon traditional training techniques, such as classroom environments and staid teaching skills, surely is at odds with the buoyancy of the industry itself.

Whilst I’m not disparaging IT teachers, there remains a concern where it’s left to the individual to keep their knowledge as pertinent and cutting-edge as possible. I have considerable sympathy for the difficulties in maintaining this when a person isn’t exposed to the latest industrial developments, such as those who are working within Microsoft directly as an example.

Students are the opposite, and are voracious in seeking access to the latest thoughts, terms and techniques wherever possible. Any system that can provide 24/7 direct or indirect access to the knowledge and thoughts of the leaders in the industry would pertain to both teacher and student alike.

Moving into the working environment, many owners of IT systems expect their IT support teams to do more than manage and maintain the integrity of the systems, to protect the business interests. They also look to them to provide strategic support and advice, to ensure that decisions regarding IT procedures, hardware and operating system procurement provide a business edge, and keep the company ahead of its competitors within their particular field.

When mulling over the options for development within IT, either for a career start, as a career change, or to further ones future within the industry - one of the key factors has been the growing attraction of the professional qualifications. It benefits from the same factors overall as the Aviation industry in that a common language and format is reasonably dominant throughout.

Students seeking to maximise their employability for the long-term are favoured by adopting the approaches and methods of the industry heavyweights. This makes them attractive to a wider range of employers in both the short term and long term. Qualifications recognised by industry leaders such as the MCSE or MCSA, that have legitimacy across geographical boundaries and industry sectors, remain a prudent choice when considering the same level of insurance in today’s economic climate.

Courses in Microsoft MCSE Support Simplified

By Jason Kendall

As you’ve arrived here then it’s likely that you’d like to enter the world of computers and the MCSE has reared its head, or you’re currently an IT professional and you’ve realised that the next stage is the Microsoft qualification.

As you do your searches, you will discover colleges that reduce their costs by failing to provide the latest version from Microsoft. Stay away from this type of college as you’ll have problems when it comes to exams. If you are studying an out-of-date syllabus, it is going to be hugely difficult to get qualified.

A company’s mission statement should primarily be on the very best they can for their clients, and they should be passionate about their results. Studying for a career isn’t just about passing exams - the procedure must also be geared towards guiding you on the best action plan for your future.

Consider the facts below carefully if you’re inclined to think that old marketing ploy of a guarantee for your exam looks like a reason to buy:

Obviously it’s not free - you’re still being charged for it - it’s just been included in your package price.

Qualifying on the first ‘go’ is what everyone wants to do. Entering examinations one by one and paying for them just before taking them has a marked effect on pass-rates - you put the effort in and think carefully about the costs.

Look for the very best offer you can at the time, and hang on to your cash. You’ll also be able to choose where to take your exam - which means you can stay local.

Considerable numbers of current training course providers net a great deal of profit by asking for examinations upfront and banking on the fact that many won’t be taken.

Re-takes of any failed exams via companies with an ‘Exam Guarantee’ are tightly controlled. They will insist that you take pre-tests first until you’ve proven that you’re likely to pass.

Paying maybe a thousand pounds extra on an ‘Exam Guarantee’ is remiss - when hard work, commitment and the right preparation via exam simulations is what will get you through.

Usually, trainers will provide mainly work-books and reference manuals. This can be very boring and not a very good way of remembering.

Research into the way we learn shows that we remember much more when we use all our senses, and we put into practice what we’ve been studying.

Courses are now available via DVD-ROM discs, so you can study at your own computer. Video streaming means you will be able to see the instructor presenting exactly how to do something, with some practice time to follow - with interactive lab sessions.

All companies must be able to demonstrate some examples of the type of training materials they provide. Expect video tutorials, instructor led classes and a variety of interactive modules.

Some companies only have access to just online versions of their training packages; sometimes you can get away with this - but, imagine the problems if internet access is lost or you get intermittent problems and speed issues. It’s preferable to have actual CD or DVD ROMs that don’t suffer from these broadband issues.

Sometimes trainees are under the impression that the school and FE college track is still the most effective. Why then are qualifications from the commercial sector becoming more popular with employers?

The IT sector is now aware that for mastery of skill sets for commercial use, proper accreditation from companies such as Microsoft, CISCO, Adobe and CompTIA most often has much more specialised relevance - saving time and money.

In a nutshell, the learning just focuses on what’s actually required. It’s slightly more broad than that, but principally the objective has to be to focus on the exact skills required (alongside some required background) - without overdoing the detail in everything else (as academia often does).

What if you were an employer - and you wanted someone who could provide a specific set of skills. What should you do: Pore through loads of academic qualifications from hopeful applicants, struggling to grasp what they’ve learned and what workplace skills have been attained, or pick out specific commercial accreditations that perfectly fit your needs, and make your short-list from that. You’ll then be able to concentrate on getting a feel for the person at interview - rather than on the depth of their technical knowledge.

The way in which your courseware is broken down for you is usually ignored by most students. How is the courseware broken down? What is the order and how fast does each element come?

Training companies will normally offer a 2 or 3 year study programme, and drop-ship the materials to you piecemeal as you finish each section. If you think this sound logical, then consider this:

Often, the staged breakdown pushed by the company’s salespeople doesn’t suit all of us. What if you find it hard to complete all the modules inside of their particular timetable?

In a perfect world, you want ALL the study materials up-front - enabling you to have them all to return to any point - as and when you want. This allows a variation in the order that you complete your exams if you find another route more intuitive.

Database Courses At Home Clarified

By Jason Kendall

All of us are short of time, and usually should we have cause to advance our future prospects, training at the same time as holding down a job is our best way forward. Microsoft certified training can fill that gap.

It’s a good idea to talk to industry experts, who can give you some ideas on what sort of job would be best, and what sort of tasks are correct for somebody with a personality like yours.

Be assured that your training course is put together to your needs and abilities. The best companies will make sure that the course is relevant to the job you want to get.

Far too many companies only concern themselves with gaining a certificate, and avoid focusing on what you actually need - getting yourself a new job or career. You should always begin with the end in mind - too many people focus on the journey.

You may train for one year and then end up doing a job for a lifetime. Ensure you avoid the fatal error of finding what seems like a very ‘interesting’ program only to waste your life away with a job you don’t like!

You also need to know how you feel about career development, earning potential, plus your level of ambition. It’s vital to know what will be expected of you, which particular exams are needed and in what way you can develop commercial experience.

Have a chat with an experienced industry professional that has a commercial understanding of the realities faced in the industry, and could provide a detailed run-down of what you’re going to be doing in that job. Getting to the bottom of all this before beginning a learning programme has obvious benefits.

A sneaky way that training providers make more money is through up-front charges for exams and presenting it as a guarantee for your exams. This looks like a great idea for the student, until you think it through:

You’re paying for it by some means. You can be assured it’s not a freebie - it’s simply been shoe-horned into the price as a whole.

If you want to get a first time pass, evidence suggests you must pay for one exam at a time, give it the necessary attention and be ready for the task.

Doesn’t it make more sense to not pay up-front, but at the appropriate time, instead of paying a premium to the training college, and to do it in a local testing office - instead of miles away at the college’s beck and call?

Paying in advance for exam fees (and interest charges if you’re borrowing money) is insane. It’s not your job to boost the training company’s account with your hard-earned cash just to give them a good cash-flow! Many will hope you won’t get to do them all - so they don’t need to pay for them.

Don’t forget, in the majority of cases of ‘exam guarantees’ - they control when and how often you are allowed to have another go. You’ll have to prove conclusively that you can pass before they’ll pay for another exam.

With average prices for VUE and Pro-metric exams coming in at around 112 pounds in the UK, it makes sense to pay as you go. Not to fork out thousands extra in up-front costs. Study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams is what will really guarantee success.

Looking at the myriad of choice out there, does it really shock us that a large majority of career changers get stuck choosing the job they could be successful with.

How can most of us possibly understand what is involved in a particular job when we’ve never done it? We normally don’t know someone who performs the role either.

Reflection on these issues is required when you want to get to a solution that suits you:

* Your individual personality as well as your interests - what work-related things you enjoy or dislike.

* What time-frame are you looking at for your training?

* What scale of importance is the salary - is it of prime importance, or does job satisfaction rate a lot higher on your priority-list?

* Considering all that the IT industry covers, you really need to be able to absorb what’s different.

* How much time you’re prepared to put into obtaining your certification.

In all honesty, it’s obvious that the only real way to seek advice on these matters is through a chat with a professional who understands IT (and specifically the commercial needs and requirements.)

A lot of trainers only give office hours or extended office hours support; very few go late in the evening or at weekends.

Never purchase certification programs which can only support trainees via a message system after office-staff have gone home. Colleges will give you every excuse in the book why you don’t need this. The simple fact of the matter is - you want to be supported when you need the help - not when it’s convenient for them.

We recommend that you search for study programmes that utilise many support facilities from around the world. These should be integrated to provide a single interface and round-the-clock access, when it suits you, with no hassle.

Search out an educator that offers this level of study support. Only proper live 24×7 round-the-clock support gives you the confidence to make it.
